IML: Winter parade and show

Some of you may have heard of Anchorage's Fur Rendezvous, a winter festival/carnival featuring the World Championship Sled Dog Race (no, not the Iditarod....that's a newer interloper).  Part of the festivities is a parade downtown and our local antique car club hosts a car show at an auto dealer's showroom.

I entered my Imperial in the parade this year.  As far as I know it's the first time for the car - certainly the first parade for me.

We ended up carrying parade royalty - the king and queen regents of the Pioneers of Alaska, Palmer chapter.  They were very happy being in our back seat with the heater running whilst the other regents were riding in convertibles or a horse drawn carriage in 20 degree weather.  I have pictures that I'll get sent in for the site soon.

A word of caution: you may be driving in a really cool car that gets lots of smiles and thumbs-ups, but a three month old Black Lab puppy riding in the front seat gets more attention.

Our car show was a great success as well.  I was able to correct a few of the "no, it's not an Impala....Imperial" people.  The education continues.  Another of our club members has a '55 and he says he's going to be pulling the hemi to be rebuilt in the coming months.  Hopefully then I'll see it roaming our streets after that.
