It sounds to me like a bad connection. After checking the easiest ones
(Battery post to cable clamp) I would check the ground cable where it
attaches to the engine block, then the connection of the positive cable at
the starter solenoid, then if that does no change, pull the starter and take
the solenoid apart. There is a big copper disk in there that makes a high
amperage connection on the heads of two bolts that could be burned over. You
can dress the disk on a wire wheel and it will (usually) clean up nice. If
you can do a starter draw test, do that first. Simple draw test: Turn on the
headlights and observe them for brightness. If they are dim, they are not
getting full power from the battery. That will tell you it is a common
connection to the battery and lights that is suspect. If they come on
bright, have someone attempt to start it and watch the lights. If they grow
dim as you turn the key, the starter is probably getting juice and is
faulty. If the lights stay bright, there is a connection problem at the
starter. Good luck!

All I wanted to do was move the car out of the garage and park it so I can
get to other things. When I tried to start it it just makes a dull click.
It's a fairly new battery bought 9/06. I charged it and got the same
results. Bat is rated 750/630. I checked connections and no change. Took
battery back to exchange it, they tested it and said it has 660 cranking
amps while the one I took off the shelf needs to be replaced. ha It's the
freakin Twilight Zone here! So I brought back the one I had and still just
a click.
I live on a bluff and the thought of rolling it over is tempting sometime.
So often it's a hassle just to do the smallest thing. Don't worry. I won't
assaninate CC... Just venting a little.
Any suggestions appreciated
Thanks,
Dan
