9-1/4 quarts is what my owners manual says for my 67. But that doesn't mean
because you've drained the pan that that is the amount to put back in!
Others will be able to tell you what the pan holds and what the torque
converter holds.
If you know it leaked enough until the car won't move in gear I'd start by
adding ONE PINT ONLY and see if the car will move in gear and so on until it
does. Then I would warm it up thoroughly by driving it gently around the
block until it's at operating temp. THEN with the brake on and the gearshift
in NEUTRAL at IDLE pull out your transmission dipstick at see where it is
and add accordingly. Remember, the stick reads in PINTS not quarts. If you
see nothing on the stick then add a PINT and look again.
You don't want to overfill your transmission!! All of this is dependant
upon that your transmission has a leak and nothing else.
You should invest in at least an original owners glovebox pamphlet that runs
you through the routine procedures. They have reprints of them on ebay for
about $10. They also have service manuals specific to your car on line which
are fabulous!
Hope this helps,

After paying to have my transmission leaks fixed I have a mess under my
car on the garage floor. I need to move it so need to put fluid in again.
How many quarts will it take?
Thanks,
Dan
