Working under dash made easy (was Re: IML: 66LeBaron-turn the key...IT's ALIVE!)

If you have a '64 to '66 Imperial with split front seats (aircraft seats included, for you Coupe owners), the key to working under the dash is to remove the driver's seat and rail as an assembly. It's four bolts (the FSM calls them "stud bolts" but doesn't say where they are) that protrude through the floor pan so they're easily accessible from below. Remove any trim from around the rail, disconnect the power seat electrical connector and voila! Of course, you must have eaten your Wheaties the morning of the day you do this, because those buggers are HEAVY. Still, it's better than auditioning for the contortionist championship. It's also a great opportunity to vacuum the carpet under the seat.
Happy motoring,
