If you tighten up the top end you may notice more blow by because the
compression should be better (higher).
I do not think that it will cause the rings to degrade faster, just it
will be more noticable that they are worn.
Also, if you rebuild the heads and later decide to rebuild the entire
engine, the head work will not be wasted. It also gives you a chance to get in
and actually measure the cylinder wear.

right now. In a
perfect world, I would pull
the motor for a rebuild. I would try to see
how she does first.
A valve job would tighten everything up on

top end. Would that hasten problems at the
lower end, i.e.:
rings?
I would rather postpone (for now) the inevitable engine
rebuild. Comments?
