Alan, by the description you gave, I'd say the motor is probably the fault, if you can see the ammeter move when activating the switch, then there's a fair amount of current draw. Before you start door disassembly, check voltages at door switch, then move on, to the motor. I've been able to save many of my own, the motors have been clean inside, except for the armatures, and stuck brushes.Cleaning the armature with some sand-cloth or scotch-brite , and cleaning the brush holder,and brushes usually works.Then re-lube, and assemble. Of corse removing and reinstalling the lift motor is the hard part!! A FSM will help. You don't have much to lose, taking the motor apart, if it checks bad, you just learned how it works. I just did the driver's window motor on the Wife's 87 RamCharger 3mos ago.Same thing. Good Luck, Ya'll have a nice day. Dave
