RE: IML: Overdrive axle?

Well as long as it wouldn't cost you your first child to accomplish it, I'd consider an overdrive option.

The second or third day I finally had my Custom on the road this summer I was entering the freeway and in the back of my mind was the thought that the engine was running a little fast and why hadn't the transmission kicked into overdrive yet?  Then it hit me....I'm not in my 98 Dakota, dummy!  I laughed out loud at myself.  It would be a nice feature, especially quieting the 413 down a bit.

But then my heater doesn't work right, nor does one of the back windows, weatherstripping, brake booster, upholstery........the list of things to accomplish is long enough already.

As for the LH/RH lug nut discussion, I certainly agree with the notion of hand tightening with a cross bar.  That gets them plenty tight for normal use.  If a mechanic has tightened them down so tight with an impact wrench that you can't get the lug nuts off with a cross bar then he's damaging the threads.  They should be following the torque specs, and if they aren't to save time then they aren't worth repeat business.  But then that's just my take on things.

If it was me I would rather put the money into an engine re-build .

This is something I am interested in as well. I notice that on the few
times I had my Imperial on the highway the motor sounded like it was at
a high pitch at about 70 to 75 miles an hour, which isn't something that
makes me comfortable knowing my 440 has 90,000 miles on it.

Yes, thanks, Ken.

I had intended to say that I'd be interested in
options that would circumvent the services provided by
a GV unit that's $3000. What I want is a regular car
that has the ability to step up to a higher top-end
for high-speed cruising at moderate RPMs.
