Hi,
The only easy way to remove the bulbe is .. to remove the speedo !!! 
I had the same problem some years ago because my bulb went off after a regulator problem ( i had more than 16 V on the + 12 line ..)
So i remove the bulb (very difficult * ) from the rear but, but ... I don't put another bulb which is nearly impossible !! 
I put a high efficiency red LED with a resistor in a bulb socket!! So i can change the LED from the front now..

* I don't remember well how i removed the old but maybe i broke the bulb glass to remove it from the front, after prying off the red lens.
