I am also having problems with the gauges on my 1973 Imperial. The fuse that protects this circuit blows within 2 minutes of installing another one. Years ago when I was in the auto parts business we used sell a gauge voltage regulator for Chryslers. As I recall, the Borg Warner part number was R-296 which is still available. I wonder if this is what might be wrong with mine? During the time the fuse is holding the gas gauge does not work properly and the "check gauges" light is on. I also notice my alternator gauge is not working. I always thought the entire electrical system is fed through the alternator gauge? However, I am getting 14.5 volts at the positive battery terminal when the engine is running. I am pretty mechanically inclined if someone could point me in the right direction. Has anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks!
