Re: IML: dumb 1982 Coupe carb'd question

If you go the Mopar Performance ignition package route, be careful. Just about all of these have a distributor with a "high performance" vacuum advance curve and some do not have distributors with adjustable vacuum advance. At least this is true for the 440 sets. I would try to get a distributor with the stock vacuum advance and certainly an adjustable vacuum advance.

Nat-

Yes, the computer will work fine but you may be better off buying a Mopar
Performance ignition package for your 318. You get an orange box spark
computer, new distributor, ballast resistor, and harness for around $170 or
so. Check Summit Racing for a current price.

My 82 had a GM throttle body and a nameless ignition unit on it when I
bought it. (Someone went to a lot of expense to screw up a perfectly good
car) I cleaned up the mess with an Edlebrock 1205 carb, manifold, and Mopar
ignition unit.

If you have any questions about a conversion, email me directly.
