Me too! re: Mid 70s Imps. My ambition is to
have a '75 coupe with sunroof. Since I have two land-yachts now,
along with two daily drivers, a '75 is a long way off. However, there is
always "Someday...." I'm a self-admitted snob about the '75 being "the
last Real Imperial." That being said, I'd snatch up an '81 if I had the
chance.
It's slow going down here in post-Katrina Southeast
Louisiana, but we got our phone back the day before yesterday (at home) and
I'm back reading my daily dose of IML email. I've really missed
it. Downed trees still litter the landscpe, and of course there are tarps
on roofs, missing buildings, hopelessly damaged structures, etc., but life
returns to a little bit more normal each day. Also, I'm one of the lucky
ones as I have a job to go to everyday.
The '58 Southampton rests comfortably, utterly
unscathed by the storm in it's cinder block fortress, awaiting my time and
money. The lion's portion of an oak tree fell on top of the old carriage
house, with no damage. I've got the '69 Electra back out (which shared
quarters with the Imperial during Katrina and Rita) as the weather
is just starting to cool off and the convertible is a perfect way to travel
among the ruins. The FEMA and other relief workers really like it! I
wish I could motor around their trucks (which are parked in every possible
inconvenient place as they pull power lines, phones lines, and tree debris from
all over) in the Mighty Imperial. That's a few storm seasons away from
now, but I'll get there!
