That's right! Now I remember that chrome cast piece that adapts the mirror base to the shape of the '64 through '66 fender. Glad that you mention it. I had completely forgotten. Isn't it amazing that they actually created an adapter so that they could continue to use the same mirror. There must have been some economy to that as opposed to making a new mirror altogether.
