> set the timming to 20 > > degrees- this is what the sticker on the car said. Never heard of one this far advanced. Especially with a vacuum advance distributor. I would try about 8 or 12. Especially on an smog setup. Maybe 4 or 6. > > 1.The battery is 950 Amp 6 months old, do I need a > 1000? My rule of thumb to be conservative is 1.5 CCA for every cubic inch. so a 440 would need around 660 CCA max. Mine have 650's and never fail to start. > > 2.I have 6.3v at the coil is that enough? On older cars with today's gas, this is the method I prefer. In fact, many older Haynes mauals use this procedure: With the car in top gear, attempt a hard acceleration up a moderate grade at between 30 and 50 mph. Adjust timing up unitl the point where it just fails to ping. --Mike Pittinaro Beautiful Boxcar American Grandeur and Danish modern Style __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
