Good morning everyone,
In the Imperialist spirit, and no chastising
meant, or implied, but there are three services for each item mentioned below on
the IML website.
A. The Classifieds section on the Club
Website: 4 sale, Wanted, Parts needed, parts wanted, vendors, yada, yada,
yada...
B. The Imperial Registry is a page added
about 1-2 years ago, which should probably be mentioned more often for newer
members to be aware of. You can register your car, by year, and other
specific model information, I think you can even enter the VIN #, it also lets
you put your information in, and that way you can see where all the cars are
located, at least in the U.S., possibly overseas as well. When you use
this registry, you can then see all the registered cars by year, numbers, stats,
and get an overview. Also, as part of this page, I THINK, there is a "Map"
you can see which members are where. If it is not part of the Imperial
Registry then see the next item.
C. (Possibly separate from the Registry)
There is a "Map" or page called "The Imperial Highway" which shows a map of the
U.S., broken down by state, of course, and if you move your pointer over a
specific state, you can see which members (who have registered, yes, you do have
to do the footwork for this to be really useful, and a tool that is complete)
live in that state, and possibly their contact information. It has been
awhile since I visited there, but check it out. This is especially fun if
you are traveling out of state, and want to visit, or meet other Imperialists on
your journey, if time permits for you, and you have a willing host. Find
this link, or page, and see below.

Please visit the club website, and try to find each of these powerful,
informative, and fun tools. There will be a "Pop Quiz" tomorrow. A
question will be asked, and the correct first responder will be given the prize
(Oh, Rapture!), of being able to meet me next week when I am in San Francisco
visiting my Mom, sans Imperial. To short a visit to spend 16 hours, 13
hours if I throw caution and the fear of Highway Patrol Officers (actually, I
don't fear them at all!), and 3 states posted speed limits to the wind, to drive
Doris down. The lucky winner in the S.F. Bay area will be able to
introduce me to his/her Imperial(s), and a lively chat about our cars. For
fun, we can drive around San Francisco, and count, and try to fit an Imperial in
parking spaces (legal only! No Red, Yellow, Bus, or posted street cleaning
days/hours open spaces permitted!). That exercise alone should take up a
day, and result in like, maybe, 3 spots citywide.
Ok, I know anyone in S.F. Bay area is at
this point scrunching their face, and thinking "What-ever!". Seriously
though, I will be in S.F. from Wednesday the 9th arriving in the early A.M.
until Sunday the 13th leaving around 10:30 P.M., so I would love the chance to
meet some, one, or even all of you! Kenyon, are you listening? I
want to drive (ride actually) down Lombard street with you in your '73
4dr. Just for fun. We can take a hydraulic jack on wheels, and at
every sharp turn (like 7-8 of them on the one "Famous" block), we can jack up
the back of the car, and slide it over, drive the 10 feet to the next curve,
jack up the rear, slide it over, and so on, until we have gotten to the bottom,
and help up the mile long line of other sightseers waiting their turn to drive
down the "Curviest Street in the World". If anyone want to actually get
together you can contact me off list, or during those days call me on my
cell phone, ask if you would like the number. You could call my Mom's too,
so, again, ask. I would love to meet SOMEONE!
