Re: '59 Swivel Seats (was Re: IML: 1963 on E Bay SAVE A CAR.)

Actually, if you look in the "By Imperial Decree" sales brochure for 1959 (if you don't have one, you can view this on the website), you will see on the back cover there is a picture of the swivel seat feature with a paragraph about them, and the swivel seat is listed as a "new optional feature."  However, I had looked at a number of 1959s before my husband and I settled on the one that we bought, and all of them had this feature.  Since it was a new option, it would appear that the general public liked that option a lot, and many people had it put in their cars.  I don't remember a lot of other makes of cars having this feature until the early 60s (63 or 64, I think) when the T-Birds came out with swivel seats and tilt-away steering column.  So, I think that it was a pretty unique feature that appealed to a lot of people.  I know that personally, I still think that is a very cool feature about these cars that seemed to be way ahead of their time.

My '59 Crown 4-door sedan has swivel seats. Didn't they all? Or was that an
option?
