Re: IML: Back Light Problem with my 1993...

These are exactly related. The mirror will not dim while the car is in reverse. Apparently the reverse circuit thinks that the transmission is in reverse. There might be a switch or relay problem. I'll try to look that up in my electrical FSM and scan some diagrams that will help you troubleshoot the issue.

Subject: IML: Back Light Problem with my 1993...

Hi there!

I just noticed that the back (reverse?) light on my 1993 comes on and stay
lit as soon as I start the engine. Is there an easy way to fix this or
something to look at?

In a possibly related way, my chromatic (dims glare automatically) rear view
mirror doesn't seem to work anymore. I don't have any problem reported by
the EVIC, but yesterday night, I noticed that the light that comes up when
glare is detected was not coming up and the mirror wasn't dimming. There is
one button that you can press to force it to dim for 45 seconds, but that
didn't work either. Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

-Laurent.
