I had the pleasure of looking at Bill's Imp on Sunday.  Couldn't manage to find her a big enough storage space to make a deal work for me, but this car is SPECIAL! One of the straightest convertibles you will find, and she runs steady and quiet at 80+ on the freeway.  If you are looking for a nice convertible, this one is worth a look.

Well Gentle people, it seems it has come time for me to move onto other investments, a nice new condo being the one that has convinced me to sell Doris Day.  As many of you know, Doris is a beautiful example of a '66 Crown Convertible.  Midnight Blue Metallic/White leather interior & top.  She is in very nice condition.  No rust, ever.  Strait as an arrow. 96,000 miles.  You can see pictures on the website from the 2001 Cascade Loop Tour. 

I am desperately trying to refinance my current condo to get the earnest money for the new condo, which I can't move into until 2/06, but my current condo is in reconstruction from a bad exterior, and lenders do not want to lend on it while it is in this phase.  That leaves me with only the option of selling my beloved car to meet my contract requirements by the 21st of November.

http://www.nadaguides.com/uv/viewresults.aspx?LI=1-12-1-2031-0-0-0&Lnk=1&wSec=12&wPr=1&wPg=2032 go to bottom of page, select "Passenger cars", under "C" select Chrysler, select 1966 year, under Imperial Crown pick 2dr convertible.  Here is gets weird.  Pick the Second and third box 300 440/365 HP V8 engine, and Air Conditioning.  Don't know why other choices are even there, as this is an Imperial and not related to a Newport, or a Town & Country wagon, also no Imperial had a manual transmission.  Anyway, after selecting the #2, & # 3 box, click on get used value button, and there you have it.  My car could pull almost $22K, (average retail, with A/C premium added, and 440 V-8 added, which is silly, since the 440 was the only engine offered in the Imperial in '66) but selling through regular channels could take awhile, and with winter coming on, maybe longer.  But, it is an Imperial convertible, and only 513 were built, so they are rare and valuable.  I am surprised how much they have gone up in the last 2 years.  But glad too!!  If I have to sell, I will post on the website too, and maybe EBay, but again, that takes time.  I am not sure what Old Car Price Guide has for a '66 Crown Convertible, but it may be around the same I would think.

If for some act of God, one of the mortgage brokers can get me the refinance, I would not want to sell, but I'm not counting on it.  Also, the Developer of my new condo may be interested in buying my car, but I have not heard back yet.  He is sure someone will come up with a refinance plan for me that will get me what I need.

If all else fails, I can play my "can't get financed" trump card and get out of the deal, but I really don't want that to happen. 

I don't expect anything like $22K for my car, but I do expect about 65% of that, or in the 12-15K range based on condition, and the care it has received.

I don't know anything about EBay, so don't know how to post, and what if I don't get a high enough bid, am I committed to sell for a low price?  What is the reserve, and why do people feel they do better without one?

As you can tell, I'm stressed out right now.  If I could get the refinance this spring when construction on my current condo is done, that would take care of most everything, but I don't have that luxury.  If anyone is interested, or can point me in the right direction for a very quick sale, please let me know.

After I get my new condo, I may just buy another Imperial.  A '69-'72 fuselage style, maybe with the Paisley top!!!  Yeah, right.  But a '69-'72 coupe would be nice.  I might even consider a trade for mine since I will need to take some of the proceeds to buy a decent get about until I close on my new condo.  Can't have car payments when applying for a new home!

Quite a ramble, but any advise, or interest would be most helpful.  Time is of the essence here, but I won't give the car away to make the time limit.
