Mike, she probably has the 2.94 as well, but you are forgeting about 1st and 2nd
gear!  You don't have to work on third only!

Yeah yah yeah, excuses!  He had to retard the timing a hair due to carbon build
up, that's his only real excuse.  Still, the carbon gave him higher compression
for at least a few of his cylinders, which compensated at least parly.  At the
time, his holley was working OK, it was not smoking black or anything, nor was
it too lean.  His car was also not missing at the time, so his new ignition
parts would have made little difference if he had them during the race.

Face it Mike, D^2's Imps rule, at least in terms of speed!  :)

The larger exhaust valves will help all speeds, but yes, mainly upper rpm range.
 The smaller exhaust valves will not give you any benefit at all.  May be
smaller intake valves could have helped low rpm by increasing mixture
atomization and mixing, but these are identical for both heads.

However, all these 440's were very strong compared to the competition.

According to a road test, the stock 67 (single exhaust, draggy bias ply tires)
was capable of a true 125 mph.  Mike's car with duals and radials will certaily
reach 130, probably more.
