Tony:
I happen to live in Vancouver, would love to get together and swap Imperial stories. As far as I
am aware your 61 is exempt from all safety regulations as it is over 15 years
old. In BC you are required to have a vehicle safety inspection done before
registering it. We have a great collector vehicle insurance programme
in B.C., I just got my renewal for my 38 Chrysler, $252
Cdn for the year, 2 million PLPD, as well as comprehensive
and collision. We also have a declared value policy for about $5 per $1000 of agreed
value. All in all we have a pretty understanding government insurance system. You
will pay GST at the border, %7 of market valuation and %7.5 provincial tax when registering the car. As long as the title is good on
the car you should have no problems importing it. Contact me off list if you need
more info..
Best regards:
Ernie and the Black Bitc_!!
58 Imperial LeBaron Southampton.

Subject: IML: Seeking Imperial
information from British Columbia
Are
there any Imperial owners in the B.C. area?
I am
thinking of settling there and amongst other things I need to investigate, I
want to know what regulations/taxes apply to importing classic cars into Canada
and registering them.
I
have invested too much time and money in my '61 LeBaron to want to leave
it behind in the U.K.
I am
going to spend the last two weeks of October in Vancouver making a wide range
of enquiries so if any Imperial club members live in the region I would be
gratefull if you could give me a few pointers as to where I can get information
related to importing my car.
