In 1956, the Crown Imperial, as it had been in other years previous, was the limousine model or 8 passenger sedan. Although it is difficult to tell from only a front end shot, the car in the picture appears to be a Custom Imperial Four Door Sedan. 1956 was the first year for use of the name Southampton and it refereed to both the Two Door and Special Four Door Hardtop models.
