Reading too much Imp email has honed my spying
skills. I was looking at other Mopars on Ebay and check out what's lying
in the background of this photo of a '62 Newport!
Ebay Item No. 2489512414. I think it's a '57
to '59 Impedial, or maybe a '60. Can anyone tell for sure? I wonder
if they'll be selling it next. Maybe one of our Tennessee pals should
stage a drive by. (ahem Elijah and Robert)

Subject: IML: fuel delivery problem
Hi, Since 1 week my car is "sleeping" in the garage with a
fuel problem ! 1 week ago i put a new rebuilt mechanical pump, filled the tank
and started a 200 miles trip. I made only 10 miles, at the first hard grade
the engine began to miss ... Come back home w/o problem (and took the
roadmonster !). This week i tried to solve the problem which was, i was
sure, the "new" pump. First i tried monday to start the car. Nothing !!
Starting motor ran but the engine coudn't fire.. I remove the output hose of
the pump : no fuel if i ran the engine .... So the pump was bad. I decided to
re-install the Holley electrical pump but before i made some test with the
"new" pump off the car: the pump works when i made several stroke with the
input hose in a jerrican ! So i installed (on the ground, at front, with
flying wires) the elect. pump. Input was at the fuel tank to pump end
(near the front wheel) and output was in a jar. By chance (and because i
haven't other hose) i put a clear plastic hose as input hose of the Holley
pump. I connect the 12V and saw that the pump delivers just a little fuel (1
pint in 5 mn !!) with a lot of air bubbles, sometimes no fuel, then a little,
with erratic flow.. I thought that the pump wasn't in "the good place"
(note that i tested it before with a jerrican and the pump delivers a lot of
fuel). These electrical pumps must push and not pull. So i installed it at the
rear, near the tank. Same results !! Can't supply fuel for a 1/18th thermic
car !!!! And as before, air in the fuel .. I thought that i've an air leak
somewhere between front and rear of the rigid line so i made a test pressure :
i plugged the rear end of the fuel line (between rubber hose and fuel sender
unit)and applied 30 PSI at the front end of the line. No leak !!! So it
seems that i've an air leak in the fuel sender tube (at the upper end because
the tank is full ..) !!! Someone has still have a problem like that
?
If you 've some ideas ...
One of the reasons this is soooo long is to try
to help Phillipe Courant sort out some of his drive line trouble. I
believe his car is a '57 but, with the exception of how to tilt the 3rd
member, the issues are the same. I'll make it shorter next
time. Thanks Gary but at this time i must first resolve my fuel
problem ... I keep your mesage for future
