Custom, Crown, LeBaron?

In most years, there are not a lot of major differences. The biggest is probably the interior materials. One sure way to tell is by the VIN number. The various series have their own number groups.

So... How do you know if the car is a Crown, Custom, or LeBaron?  Does it depend on the specific option package?  Is it marked on the car somewhere?  I know that Crowns tend to have some of the crown emblems on them, but I also heard that some of the emblems were optional, is that true?  Or was it just a way to add a fancy name onto the same car and charge a little bit more?
