My new '59

Bill, - not sure what "electronic" stuff you are talking about on your
carb, - what I usually find when trying to come up with an air cleaner is
that the vast majority of same are made for Chevrolets (like everything else
in the Hot Rod industry it seems), and these GM things are all "drop-base"
designs (I guess so they will fit under Corvette & Camaro hoods), - plus the
Rochester Q-Jet carb they are all made to fit is shaped quite differently
than an AFB or AVS. Plus, - when you try and use a drop-base air cleaner on
a Chrysler you often end up getting the transmission kickdown linkage
tangled up with it (that can be downright dangerous).
If you look for them, - you can locate a "high-rise" air cleaner assy, - or
at least one with a "level" or "non-recessed" base. I have found several on
Ebay when I needed them.
Since you are going from large to small (so to speak) with your air
cleaner, - you don't have much choice other than to combine the two with
cutting & welding. I have done that a few times with (mostly) good results.
It's a little tricky to get the "angle" right between one base and
another, - but it can be done.

Regards,
DaveG.
