8-track..the luck was with us! - wiring

That's good news about the 8-track player.  I am curious though, how was 
the CD player installed?  It's my understanding that newer stereos have 
a different grounding system than the common ground used on the older 
stereos.  The wiring to the rear speakers has to be altered (a ground 
wire returning to the stereo, and not just some metal part of the car) 
in order for newer stereos to work.  I'm not too familiar with stereo 
wiring, so perhaps someone could fill me in on how one would wire it so 
that you could simply unplug one and plug in another?
