Tim -- I'd say that's a pretty good price, IF the guy
does good work.  You might ask him for the names of a
couple of people that he's done similar work for and
see what they have to say.

For comparison, I had the 440 in my '71 Imperial
rebuilt in 1997.  The complete breakdown of parts and
labor costs is listed here:

With about 30K on the engine since the rebuild, I'm
still really happy with the work that my rebuilder
did.  He had good recommendations from several people
in the Mopar club I was a member of at the time.
