I presently own 10 antique cars, and have been criticized constantly that I'm making bad investments, and wasting my money. Bottom line: I'm happy with all my antiques even though it cost a lot of money for up keep. I just purchased another one. It's a 57 Chrysler Saratoga 4 dr. hardtop. Need work, but what a cool car with those beautiful fins. After reading Bradley Teets reply about purchasing old cars, I feel Good!! I happen to be a financial planner who grew up as the grandson of a Chrysler Plymouth Imperial GMC dealer in a small town in western Maryland. I generally would not advocate most folks buy a classic as an investment but when you have motor oil in your veins instead of blood, you can't help buy own them. We currently own a 1961 Chrysler 300 G coupe and a 1968 Chrysler 300 convertible (yes, no Imperials yet). I have been able to get some of my best investment clients through local car clubs, etc as I have a common interest with the members. Just act logically when acquiring cars and attempt to reason with your financial advisor if he / she tries to talk you out of buying that dream car. Sincerely, Bradley R.
