POR-15

RustMort is phosporic acid with other stuff.  It can be pretty nasty.  I used to be very sensitive to fragrances.  Could not stand to walk through a department store perfume counter, etc.  One day I was spraying a car with Rustmort and got a good whiff up the snout.  My nose burned for days and felt like raw hamburger.  I guess I burned off some smellers because I'm not as sensitive to fragrances any more.

I use a bunch of it though.  It's good stuff.  I just wipe everything down with wax and grease remover to remove the stick residue.  never had a problem with it.

I even spray my English Wheel frames with it prior to painting.

I recently found a Jel style naval jelly that works well also.  Home Depot carries it.

actually Rust Mort is supposed to neutralize and convert rust to a hard black coating which is then paintable.
