Phil, Thanks for your comments, and it's something to think about. I knew they have a troublesome air suspension, and the repair cost is high. I also found an 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis in beautiful condition. Maybe I should go with that instead. However I love the styling of the Imperial, but then again it's front wheel drive vs. rear wheel drive, and V6 vs. V8, plus it's a lot smaller inside, and it cost a lot more. I did drive the Mercury, and it's real quite inside, rides nice. I'll have to sleep on it before purchase of either one. The ABS system could cost you as much as $1100 to fix, the transmission is $1600 or so for a Mopar reman unit (don't waste your time on independent rebuilders), and the two axle air suspension can get expensive, too. So, for $2600 I'm concerned that you'd be buying yourself some expensive maintenance that seems to come around the 100,000 mile mark. On the other hand, if you want a FWD Imperial, buy it...I enjoyed my 1990 for eleven years-it was a pleasure to drive. Phil Brust 73 & 82 Imperial
