speed nuts

I expect that its RTV silicon, or in older models, probably the old white potting sealant they used to use. I'd use RTV silicon, it should seal while not being too strong to prevent removal later.

Subject: IML: speed nuts

Does anyone know the correct sealant used in the hollow of speed nuts that hold on trim pieces?  I don't want to use anything with too much adhesive as the tangs on pot metal pieces are easy enough to break off as it is, but need to seal this source of water and moisture mitigation.  Years applicable are early 60's (1962), and there may have been more than one sealant used.  Thanks!!
