My 69 dodge uses a filter behind the alternater with rubber hoses witch I always thought was bad design also my 63 imperial has same set up, factory. My 69 corvette has all steel line from pump to carb. factory.

factory used a steel line. I've seen more than one car that "went up"
after a rubber fuel hose on top of the engine ruptured. Most recently a
nice Corvette.
