Power assist on various driver controls were fairly common on luxury cars,
starting in the early 30s. These included power steering, power brakes, and
power clutch assist devices. The power steering assist on Pierce Arrows was
mechanically applied, the power brakes and power clutch devices were vacuum
operated on Packards, and perhaps on all cars which offered them.

Was about to mention that my 49 Chryslers have them but then remembered that
my 35 airflow had them on also!!! Not real common back then. It activated
an additional arm which helped the effort on the master cylinder as I
remember

My 1953 Olds 98 Holiday had power brakes so it would follow that Cadillac
did, too. So did my '54 Cadillac Eldorado convertible.
