Anyone having trouble with a 60s Mopar charging system would be best advised
to first swap their mechanical regulator for a Mopar part # P3690732
electronic regulator. It fits without modification and provides a constant
output. If that doesn't improve things, then there is a problem with the
alternator or perhaps someone replaced the original 60 amp with a newer
version that requires the field be grounded and the external wire is
inadequate. The good news is that a correct replacement 60 amp alternator is
probably one of the best parts buy values around at about $30!
