I helped a fellow IML member take the stainless off a '59 a few years ago. It seems to me that some stainless stock and a pair of tin snips or aircraft shears would be all that's necessary to make replacements. It's more like 1/32" thick, maybe less. This is an option that would make any Imp of the appropriate vintage look better. On the '59, the four door is a different shape than the two door. --Roger van Hoy, '55 DeSoto, '58 DeSoto, '42 DeSoto, '66 Plymouth, '81 Imperial, Washougal, WA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don Nonnweiler" <dnonnwei@xxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, December 15, 2002 11:21 AM Subject: Re: IML: 60 roof inserts | I'd be interested in acquiring a set of stainless inserts for my 60 | Imperial if this would help cut the cost of making them | Don | 59 Crown | 60 Crown | 65 Crown | ----- Original Message ----- | From: "kenyon wills" <imperialist60@xxxxxxxxx> | To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> | Sent: Sunday, December 15, 2002 11:06 AM | Subject: Re: IML: 60 roof inserts | | | > --- clay-deb <clay-deb@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: | > > Happy Holidays everyone | > > | > > Has anyone ever attempted to reproduce the roof inserts that were an | > > option on the 59 and 60 Imperials.? | > > It just so happens that the machine shop I work for has a fair | > > selection | > > of 303 and 304 stainless flat stock. | > > It wouldn't be too hard to make a template and glue a couple of | > > pieces to | > > the roof.
