It is a brushed effect. I bought new in 1980, a Chrysler New Yorker 5th
Avenue Limited Edition and it had a $2,200. roof, padded vinyl top, padded
trunk and small backlight package. I sold the car about 10 or so years ago
and my son saw one in a wrecking yard that was running just a few months
earlier.
What I am leading to is he bought for the future, unknown why right yet,
to save this piece of brushed stainless. It is at his home here in Palm
Desert, Calif. On my 61 LeBaron is also the stainless inserts. I will shoot a
picture of the two and can send them in a regular email. It is a digital
camera I will use. I have 5 different cameras, but this is the best one to
use for this situation. Let me know if any one would like me to pursue this,
free, that is no fee. My son is like me, even if we cannot use something, it
does not get thrown away if we can save it. I have in the past donated to
museum items of interest for safe keeping and for the rest who would never
otherwise see these unusual items from Mother Mopar. PS, I know many of you
do not like muscle cars of which my son and I have about 20 of, including our
latest addition to one of the garages, a totally restored 1969 Dodge Daytona.
The fella wanted $96,000. We got it for $55,000. We now have three in the
family. It is the only 440 powered Daytona with the optional cloth interior,
correct factory car. Also PS: I formerly owned this car from 1971 thru 1989.
18 years. Now its back home where it should have never left. Serial numbers.
I would like everyone to send me their serial numbers for our records as I
have done this for the Daytonas. What I would like to do is find for you all,
the first, last and inbetween, a story of the Imperials from their inception
till the end. It is known what the last 75 serial # car was. The 81 thru 83's
are Imperials also, so don't leave them out. It is easier when the serial #'s
were for Imperials only. This is to include parts cars, cars that no longer
exist and you have the serial # still somehow. Also, if known, the dealer who
sold it new. I would like to have the scheduled build date and that info is
on the fender tag or body plate. I have a window sticker from a 59 Crown 4
door sedan sold new in Colorado. I bought that car in 88 as a parts car for
my 59 LeBaron and the window sticker was in the door pocket. That was after I
had a lot of it parted out. Sad, but true.
Has anyone else attempted to collect for the records such an undertaking?
I know it is a huge job, as just the Daytonas has taken many years to do and
is an ongoing thing. Joe Machado
