This sounds like a vacuum leak. My 69 had a couple of vacuum
leaks & it would stall on occassion. Correcting those leaks cured the
problem. If you can pinpoint the area the hissing is coming from, check for
broken or disconnected lines. The intermittent hissing sounds like what the
parking brake release would do with a bad line or the diaphram in the release
mechanism has gone bad. That would be coming from under the dash on the upper
drivers side.
