Demolition Derby - Sorry I Can't join you... more high road thoughts

Thad,
I understand how you must have felt seeing these knuckleheads destroy good cars for no reason.  Sometimes bad things happen to good cars.

I think that's why we need to use the power of our numbers to locate good cars and make sure they go to good homes.  We won't be able to control the destiny of each and every vehicle,  but if everybody were to just keep their eyes open, share the information with the group and try to find good homes for these cars, we can preserve  what cars and parts are left.

There are many people on the list who suffer from "the sickness" (as it's being called in another current thread), and have multiple projects going, or have purchased cars just for parts or for resale to others... these cars could very well have seen the same treatment as many other Demo cars or the cars that you saw...  I think all we can do is to continue to spread the word and do the best we can.

I would love to take people who just hack up old cars because they think it's funny and roll their noses up in the driver's window of my Imperial (ow ow ow!).  I have a feeling that's probably illegal, though...

One thing we could do (quietly of course) would be to contact as many racetracks, fairgrounds, and other entities that conduct Demo Derbies and inform them that, as Derby Drivers ourselves, we will not enter derbies where Imperials are allowed, since there is no way we can compete using lesser cars :)

Maybe we could establish a page on the site with brief listings of endangered (underpriced or deteriorated) cars and try to get them to good homes.

If anyone has a better plan or additional ideas, let's get them on the table!

Steve Charette
