Impcop/other topics

I was shocked, absolutely SHOCKED silly, to read tonight
that the Imperial website has added an article about 1957
cars that contains... dare I say it... INFERIOR BRANDS.

Though my heart skipped a beat at the mention of DeSoto,
Dodge and Plymouth, I fairly swooned at the mention of
Hudson and Studebaker, but hey, they're orphans now so I
recovered. But the inclusion of... dear readers, I can't
utter their names out loud, but one starts with a "ch..."
sound and the other with a "fff..." DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT
THESE ARE INFERIOR CARS OWNED BY PLEBIAN IMBECILES, NOT
WORTHY TO GRACE THE SHADOW OF OUR BLUE BLOODED REPUBLICAN
SNOB CHARIOTS? My God, those people don't even have
servants!

... If you're still reading I suppose you know that I'm
joking... sort of. There are a few imperious impstapo who
choose to impose their own SUBJECTIVE standard on what can
and can't be mentioned, then bend the rules as they see fit.
Anticipating a lecture about following the rules, I dare
say, "lighten up and get a life!" Kick me off the list and
put me out of my misery of sorting through tons of
uninformative pap to find a pearl of information, and to
then be told I can't read or write about the same parts used
on some forbidden brand. God forbid that any of you should
learn you can go to the local Ch*** store to get metering
rods or other parts for your Carter carb. Nosiree, we can't
mention the interchange, you'll have to struggle to find
parts like anyone else or buy them from the impstapo
approved vendors instead. But we can pontificate about
Toyota Supra rotors, oh yes, that's okay, that's different
you see.

Well, I don't see. And frankly I don't think the impstapo
does either. They just have the power.

| I too feel bad if Roy leaves but if he does it has nothing
to do with what
| you think. What you are missing is private posts
explaining the rules. I will
| be posting a reminder for all of us that may not realize
we even have them.
| Unfortunately, they are buried in our web site and not
always easily found
| and read. Many components of the automobile are similar
and universal, carbs,
| gear ratio, steering, electronics and on and on. It is
quite all right to
| discuss any and all of these in general on the list when
they are Imperial
| related. In using the carb for example, it is easy to talk
specifically about
| changing metering rods on Carter carburetors with out
having to discuss what
| make of car they came off. And again that information is
wanted and
| encouraged. What happens when we start getting brand
specific is the Imperial
| content is lost and soon we are comparing T o y o t a's to
Gateway computers and
| everyone wonders why. If anyone doesn't believe this
happens can research the
| archives and see. The worst part is things usually develop
into a flame war
| because people get off the topic and then get p/oed with
each other.
|
| Bottom line is anything automotive that can contribute to
Imperial ownership
| and restoration is fine here as long as it is addressing
the Imperial. If my
| point was not clear, I apologize to you, Roy and the list.
It is a fine line
| but is there for a reason. Thanks for speaking your peace,
Allan!
