Jim, this is an easy fix. The great thing about 1960 technology is that it was designed for one, sometimes two rebuilds. I have rebuilt many of my intricate control switches, often all they need is a re-grease and points sanded with fine wet and dry. If the parts are completely broken, our dear friend Lowell Howe will have one for you. Lowell G. Howe - OIC Recommended Vendor 209-892-3464 Box 1432 16218 Sycamore Patterson, CA 95363
Good luck, and remember the fun is in getting it fixed under you own steam. Luke

The switch is broken (soft metal) and I recently saw the thread about diodes replacing the bulb. Any info., thoughts, etc. are appreciated. Thank you. Jim Brown I'd have the heads resurfaced and also rebuilt with hardened valves and valve seats. Felpro Gasket sets are still available and good quality. Head gaskets have installation instructions which must be followed to prevent failure.
Valve cover gaskets are available any way you want them. With cork, I use modern sealer on the valve cover side (after thorough cleaning of the valve cover) to hold them in. On installation, I tighten the bolts in an alternating pattern with the proper amount of torque. I think the spec is 10 or 15 pounds. Over tightening will ruin the gaskets and break the seal.

Can someone weigth in on sourcres for good 59 413 engine gaskets that are close to the original gaskets, cork etc. Also which gaskets should one use gasket sealer with? I have heard many different opinions on that topic.
In a previous email I mentioned that there was water in my oil. It turns out that the heads were very slightly warped. so I am assuming that water escaped around the gasket without
actually damaging the head gasket.
