Made it to the Rudy's at Round Rock but saw no Imperials so I just drove
around and parked for a while. Not knowing anyone I didn't stay after
11:30. Anybody that saw a small red pick-up with a lift in the back saw me.
I will try to get the Imperial running for the one next year. Seems I
really missed a good one.

Well, just a short note to say the Texas meet on Saturday went quite well.
Joe Strickland, Doug Norton, Mark Evans, Brooks Harkey and I met at Round
Roc, near Austin. Four nicer, better exemplifiers of what this great site
and mailing list is all about would be hard to find. They had to put up
with me but nothing in this life comes for free, does it. We saw Mark's
lovely 1963 at his house but, other than that, we were all without
Imperials. While that might seem odd it just shows the value of these
gatherings because when we discussed trying to have another Texas meet, we
all promised to ourselves that we'd try to get our cars running and to
bring them next year. Because three of the five hailed from the Dallas
area, it seems only right to hold the meet there next time. We thought it
might be a good idea to try to get together at the same time as the
Arlington swap meet, which is usually in September.
I'm hoping that those of us who have to come long distances might try to
stay at the same hotel near the swap meet. Then those closer could meet
us there for breakfast before heading out to the show, which we just know
will be full of hard to find yet inexpensive vital parts for our
Imperials, of course. And then a nice meal in the evening before heading
our separate ways.
Just some thoughts. I've had the good fortune to meet quite a few members
of the IML. Very, very few have felt so embittered that they resigned
their membership, which speaks well enough of their characters that you
might want to join us next year. I shall be, as usual, a shrinking violet
and sit at the back and not say much. You know the type.
