He has had it for many years and uses it in a Limo service. Many years ago he chauffeured my wife and I to a musical concert in that limo and we got a lot of looks getting out and in it before and after the concert.Monty and I grew up in Nebraska and when we got interested in cars we were attracted to Mopar products. We even started driving an old Dodge (or maybe it was a Desoto?) around a vacant lot next to his house before we got driver's licenses. Monty has collected quite a few cars - I think about 16, all Mopars of course. He got a 1961 300- G as a high school graduation present (in 1967 - he still has it) and when he went to pick it up in Omaha, he saw a 1959 Imperial LeBaron on the lot. He knew I was looking for a (cheap) used car. So that's how I got the lead on my '59 Imperial. In fact Monty was the youngest pilot in the state then, so he flew me to Omaha in a Cessna Skylane in July 1967 to pick it up. By the way - His Dad at that time had a 1959 Crown and I chauffeured Monty to and from school on his last day of classes at high school in that car (a couple months before I got my '59).Shortly after I got my '59 his Dad upgraded to a 1965 Imperial and two years later in July of 1969 when my Imperial and Monty's 300G were temporarily not up to a long distance trip, we borrowed his Dad's '65 and drove nonstop from Nebraska to Florida to witness the launch of Apollo 11.Oh and just to razz me, Monty also has a 1959 Imperial LeBaron four door hard top in his collection - similar to mine, except it's maroon (mine is black) and has rear air conditioning. Monty took care of my car while it was in storage for 30+ years before I finally got around to restoring it - it's almost done now (perhaps just weeks away).-Charlie Hansen1959 Imperial LeBaron Southampton - called "Old Baron" by Monty since the first day I owned it. (I don't think Monty is an IML member - he's really busy and very talented at mechanical and electrical repairs, unlike many of us who desperately need the help provided by the IML.)On Jul 10, 2007, at 2:45 PM, Brooks Harkey wrote:Mark,Enjoyed the video.
