Chris, if it were me, the 1406 would be my choice, or the 1806, both have electric chokes that work much better than the stock bi-metal choke well it came with. The 1806 is the AVS type, which is much easier to fine tune the secondary opening. Since both carbs are modeled after the competition series AFB, and the AVS, the choke linkage(manual) could be a problem, getting it right.I think the choke well changed between 67 to 70-71 which used the AVS.Kinda fuzzy, but thats what I seem to recall.Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.
