IML: 727 leak

This is going to be hard to describe but here goes. On my 67 Imperial I have 
a leak at  just below the vertical surface that the tailshaft bolts to. It's 
a small space between the lower flange of the tailshaft and the TOP of the 
oil pan FLANGE. To see it you have to look from the back of the transmission 
looking forward. It's slightly off center of the tailshaft and where it's 
leaking appears to look like the end of a aprox 3/4" diameter shaft. Oil is 
seeping from this "shaft end". I've looked at the breakaway photos of the 
727 and see nothing that looks like this inside so my next step is to drain 
the tranny,pull the pan and see.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
