Hi Dan....you probably have already checked this out, but on the outside chance you have not....take a look and see if there is a drain plug in the center-bottom of the gas tank? I had an IMperial LeBaron (I think..??...it was a 64 or a 66) that had one of these drain plugs in its gas tank. I had bougth the car for $50.00 for parts for my '66 and wound up needing to replace the gas tank on my '66 after some guy smaashed into me and his bumper slid under the rear bumper and squished my gas tank....anyway, don't know if this had been something the previous owner had installed or if the car had come like that from the factory......BUT, if you DO have one, it sure will make things MUCH easier!!
Good Luck

I just wanted to thank those of you who responded to my questions today. The power of this list is impressive and I've learned a lot just from today's posts.
I finally got a hold of my mechanic and he suggested a neat way to drain the old gas. Many of you probably already know this but it was new to me and might be for someone else too. He said to disconnect the line from the pump and use my compressor to force air into the tank with a rag wrapped around it for a tight fit. Apparently it wall drain with only a few pounds of pressure..
Thanks again guys. You were a big help.
