Hey Rob:
Your Dad's advice is good. That being said, sometimes a little extra
trouble is worth it! This is most often the case with Imperials. I hope
you get one over a slant six Dart or something like that. My bet is you
won't regret it.

Thank's Rob,
I'm completely aware that i'll find a car in much better condition out in
the southwest, but don't think i'd like to have to drive it about 2000
miles all the way up to Ohio, and shipping costing probably around $800+
doesn't seem worthwhile when i only plan to spend 2 or 3 thousand for the
car. I think I may take my fathers advice and just get a real basic,
clean and simple little Plymouth or Dodge with a Slant 6 motor. It'll be
a classic to have fun with, (car shows etc), good gas milage, and
reliable, and not a ton of bells and whistles that could potentially fail
in an Imperial. I suppose later on in life i'll look for an Imperial, but
a little Plymouth or Dodge sounds a lot more practical for me as of right
now. Oh well..
I've already checked out CCTOL and it seems as if there are a few options
available in Ohio, and a few of them with no rust! I'm sure i'll be fine,
i just want to pay 2 or 3 thousand straight up and get something, I think
i'll be better off WITHOUT car payments every month :)
Once again any advice, tips, etc are more than welcome, if there are any
specific years to look for in a Slant 6 let me know, I know they did vary
a bit by year.
Thanks again.

Welcome Matthew,
Good luck on looking for your first car. With your dad on your side I'm
sure you'll do fine. I understand the reasons for waiting until you
complete your move to buy, but you might want to consider buying a car
in Arizona. Almost any car you come across in Ohio is going to have
some rust, whereas it is rare in Arizona. We folks back east are
constantly shipping rust free bodies and parts from Arizona/Nevada. You
might want to consider it.

when it fits into my budget. Looking for a '64 through '66.
Self-Introduction: My name is Matt and I'm 19. I have a lot of
interest in all Mopars, especially classic's and Imperials in
particular. I got the interest from my father. I'll be moving to
Columbus, Ohio in the beginning of 2007 and then will be looking for
my first car (i've been moving around a lot and haven't actually
purchased a car) and hopefully I can find myself a real nice and
mechanically sound Imperial to drive every day. I may or may not do
this, I'm also considering buying a newer Chrysler to drive daily, and
just get collector car insurance on the Imperial for occasional
driving. Help, tips, or any information is welcome!
