Most likely it's neither. If it's a 4-door sedan, seats six, and has no side windows aft of the doors, it's an Imperial (there were no Custom or Crown trim levels in 1956). If it's a 2-door or 4-door hardtop, it's also an Imperial. If it seats 8 (with jump seats), has quarter windows behind the rear doors, and is a limousine, it's a Crown Imperial. For later years, Imperial Crown is the middle trim level (model) of the standard-length car (or the lower trim level from 1964-66), and Crown Imperial is a long-wheelbase limousine.
