Re: R-12 to R-134a Retrofit; was Re: IML: Change Over for 1975 AutoTemp

Back when the Freon hysteria hit in the early 90's a 12 oz can of Freon12 (CCl2F2) was about $0.80 at WalMart. I am sure that it does not cost any more to make 134A. However, since the Government got involved and the price of Freon 12 sky rocketed, many people think that all Freons should be expensive. They should not. $2 for 12 oz sounds about right with inflation.

Thanks for the tip.  I had no idea you could buy it that cheap.  Sam's Club, here I come.

Check the price of R134a.  Now about $8 for 12 ounces.
I buy it by the case at Sam's Club -- 12 12 oz. cans for $23 plus tax.
