Currell 1953 Imperial Custom Sedan

The description says "smooth shifting automatic". I have always thought the '53 was the last year of Fluid Drive. They surely wouldn't call that a smooth shifting automatic, although I guess a salesman might do/say anything. Anyone interested should find out more.Paul W. -----Original Message----- From: randalpark@xxxxxxx To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sun, 25 Jun 2006 20:12:57 -0400 Subject: Re: IML: Seeking Input on a Cousin CarI love those cars, but its up to you. If you decide you want one of them, you should go see them, so that you won't have any bald face surprises. There are bound to be some anyway, but at least you will have a better idea what you are buying. The '53 Imperial would be Fluid Drive which is much different than the Powerflite (two speed automatic) in the '54 New Yorker. From the pictures, it looks like the New Yorker has a more correct interior, but that could be due to lighting. It appears the '53 Imperial has been reupholstered (at least the seats) in velour instead of broad cloth. The wheels on the '53 Imperial look better to me than the 1980 Cordoba wires on the '54 N.Y.er.You really need to go see them.
