Actually, at that time they were more for use as "airport limousines". Believe it or not, up until about 20 years ago, flying in a jet plane was a rather exclusive event, and not considered the flying cattle cars that they are today. Limo services were primarily used for transporting business men to and from the airport, and yes, as you say funerals. Funeral cars were quite a bit more formal than this. These Chryslers were usually made specifically for use as airporters.

I think these are actually nine passenger sedans and were used by funeral homes. Regular Limousine companies don't use these.
