Re: IML: AACA Meet in Mobile, AL

It was a great show, but only one Imperial. It was a very pretty '59 Crown Coupe up from Miami. There was a '64 (I think) 300H convertible that was fabulous, and two late 60s (pre-fuselage) Newport convertibles. One was a woody, a style I'd never seen in person. There was a '67 300 coupe and a '75 Cordoba, but no other post 1950 Mopars. I didn't see the woody Newport before I heard it. The guy started it at one point and that unmistakable gear-reduction starter sound crashed across the rows of vehicles. It wasn't hard to find it after that.

Greg and Russel were there, showing Greg's Cadillac. I didn't get to stay long enough to see if he got his Junior. It was a very pretty car, though, and I imagine it did well. As I arrived G & R were rapidly polishing the front chrome to remove the signs of an obviously minor engine fire. Greg told me a new battery cable, a few inches longer than it should have been, was resting against the manifold and caught. They must have discovered and extinguished it instantly, because by the time I was there I couldn't see a thing wrong with the engine compartment. Everything gleamed like new.

We had a great time (I went with my father-in-law), and the best part was visiting with the owners and hearing their stories. I'm relatively new to this hobby, and this was my first judged show. I'm starting to see what the fuss is all about., and also more appreciative of my own two cars.

I'll be there trying for my first Junior with one of my non Mopars. Look for the BIG blue mid sixties convertible...

I'm off to the AACA show in Mobile this coming Saturday as a spectator (rather than a participant). Any IML'ers planning to be there? I'll have my camera, so if I see any Imperials I'll take some pics!

Hey guys:

We are going to have our 1956 Imperial at the Food Lion Autofair. We will be there Saturday in the AACA judging area. If anyone is going to come look us up.

If anyone is going to the Aniston gathering let us know. We are going to take our 67 convertible. It might be fun to travel together. We are in WV
