You might want to pop over to www.slantsix.org for some good slant 6 information.  Your ’73 head should have been equipped with hardened valve seats.  That started with the ’72 production year.

[ slant 6 engine] i know that when it was new, that gas had lead in it so it was not made 4 unleaded gas.
